STEP 1

f you are interested in officiating C Squirt and Initiation level games, training is required, please contact Chis Olson via email at the address above.  To be eligible to officiate, you must be a member of CYHA (includes parents and skaters)

Required in the email are the following items:

Please indicate if you officiated last season (07-08 season)

STEP 2

The Referee Coordinator will respond to your email with the specifics of the Referee training seminar which will be held late October 2008.  Also included in this reply email from the Referee Coordinator  will be information that you will need to visit the USA Hockey website where you will need to register as a level 1 official and take the USA Hockey exam.  This exam can be taken online or hardcopy.  The test fee and USA Hockey Registration is $35.  All players are already registered with USA Hockey as a player - and are required to register as an official - thus the $35 fee.

STEP 3

You must attend the CYHA Referee Seminar AND complete the USA Hockey exam to be eligible to referee.  Your eligibility BEGINS once you receive your "official" USA Hockey patch.

The referee roster will be limited to 20 officials with priority going first to returning officials,, new officials that are CYHA players second, and parents of players last.

  • Referee attire/gear (if you have it)
  • $10 Check (MOHA)

What is required to become a CYHA In-House Referee?

  • Must be a current or former CYHA hockey player
  • Be PeeWee level or higher
  • Attend a referee seminar in the fall of the year - held at Centennial Arena
  • Receive a passing score on the USA Hockey Referee test
  • Purchase a Referee Jacket and finger whistle.  Will also need black pants, helmet and skates.

  • You will referee Initiation level games and C Squirt
    Games held at Centennial or Super Rink
  • Earn between $12 - $16 per game
